A question of this body: Esther Teichmann

The combination of collage of images and spoken word poetry in the work In Search of Lightning merge and flow in a way that for me is haunting and melancholic. Shadows, dripping water, swampy damp and dark outdoor spaces fill the frame and a voice that carries sound that is serious and deadpan with reverberations of minor chords. The images seem to need the spoken word in order to carry a necessary complexity (which this piece wouldn’t have without it) and yet together they seem to me to be complex yet overloaded somehow. Although, I am writing this on a day when I am grieving the loss of our brother, brilliant artist and totally unique person Robin Williams (may he rest in peace).
